(More customer reviews)I ordered two of these for my child's closet. First, although fairly easy to assemble, the instructions were tiny and in illustration only. In spite of this, it did not take long to figure out how to assemble the shelving unit.
I found the fit and cut of the individual parts to be typical of mass produced furniture kits...inconsistent. Once the sides are erect and attached to one another with a lateral running dowel rod, The individual shelves are pushed back onto pressed-in dowel pins at the back of the unit and seated via a milled groove in the back of each shelf. The front of each shelf is then rested on upward facing metal pins on the front of the unit that fit into corresponding holes on the bottom of the shelf. Gravity is all that holds these shelves down. This, coupled with the inconstancy in part sizes and hole locations, etc, means once you have everything in its place, don't breath on it. Picking up the assembled unit the wrong way means that shelves are going to start sliding off their resting places and your back to square one. Transport the finished unit by grabbing both side rails at the same time and carrying it straight up and down. Don't even think about tilting it.
It then became time to attach one unit to the other and install it in the closet. The tops rails of the finished piece are a bit rounded, but there is a corresponding groove on the bottom so it will seat upon another unit. I placed one on top of the other and used the included brackets to attach the two completed units together as one. Again, the product suffers from poor consistency in cut parts, and the units couple ONLY at the back. This means that the sides of the units will be flush in back, but there will be a gap in front where you can see it. There is little one can do to shore up the front of the two pieces for appearance's sake since multiple units are mated only at the back, using gravity to hold the front down.
